It purposed to answer five research questions: What is the relationship between investment strategy and CBO sustainability? What is the relationship between diversified donor base and CBO sustainability? What is the relationship between strategic partnerships and CBO sustainability? What is the relationship between resource mobilization strategies and resource utilization? What is the relationship between resource utilization and CBOs sustainability? A sample size of 291 CBOs in Arua district was selected from a population of 1182 CBOs using simple random sampling method. A quantitative, descriptive and cross sectional research design was used to study resource mobilization strategies, resource utilization to find their relationship with CBO sustainability.
The correlation analysis revealed a strong positive relationship between the resource mobilization strategies and CBO sustainability. Subsequently, CBO sustainability has a significant positive relationship with all dimensions of resource mobilization strategies, that is; investment strategy, diversified donor base and strategic partnerships. This implies that resource mobilization strategies in all of its dimensions are directly associated with CBO sustainability. In the hierarchical regression analysis, Model 1 controlled for age of CBO, number of staff, and coverage of operation; the results show that two of the control variables that is age of CBO and number of staff employed had a significant positive association with CBO sustainability. Model 2, involved the inclusion of resource mobilization strategies on top of the control variables and the results show that resource mobilization strategies have a significant positive association CBO Sustainability. Model 3 included resource utilization on top of resource mobilization strategies and control variables. The results of the model show that resource utilization has a significant positive association with CBO Sustainability. The study therefore recommends that CBOs should invest in commercial ventures so as to raise consistent revenue for the organizations. Secondly, CBOs should enter into and strengthen more strategic partnerships. Finally, the study recommends CBOs to put in place and adhere to efficient and effective resource utilization practices | en_US |
